I am in physical pain.

I have lots of issues with this poem. I’ve dealt with depression, and I know how scary it is when things change. But that’s what growing up is about. Things are going to happen, and sometimes it will be out of your control. But very few things in this poem are actually bad and yet the writer acts as though the world is going to end because his ‘girlfriend wore to much makeup’ and other meaningless things like that. Things are going to change when you get older, and sometimes it really, really hurts, but the best thing you can do is keep moving forward. 

This poem is dangerous because it preaches the idea that change is bad, and that growing up is bad and the only way to make things better is to try to commit suicide. That is never the answer though. Things will be hard, but the bravest thing to do is make it until the end. Life is life, change is change, and you’re going to see it a lot growing up. It worries me to see people praise the message of a poem like this…
